So we've seen a thousand screenshots and feature summaries of Windows Vista, and Microsoft is calling it
"largest upgrade since Windows 95," but how does it really compare to XP? BentUser has a cool article that
compares Windows XP with Vista Build 5270 side by side, in
particular the Start menu, the task switcher, My Computer, the Control Panel, and the bundled apps. Whether or not
Vista will be a success is anybody's guess (though if they can make it fast and stable—a big if—I suspect
it will), but regardless Redmond seem to be up to some interesting stuff.

The Vista start menu looks really nice, although it would look cleaner if both panels were semi-transparent. The taskbar preview seems really useful, but I hope many of the other programs (IE 7, Movie Maker, Calendar, Mail, Window Switcher) can be uninstalled.
My favorite improvement is the removal of the "My" prefix from many locations in Windows.. although, this still needs dropped from the Media Center interface.

Vista will definitely be a success. They sell most of their copies through OEMs, and since you pretty much need a new PC to run it, it's quite convenient that way.
Then it won't take long before Microsoft kills support for XP (which came out a hair after Win2k, Win2K is already dead) And it will take one or two unplugged hole in XP to scape people away from it.
Plus, Vista is way superior than XP, packing even more shiny bling, transparent things, animated stuff and plenty of new wizards.
