Ego Surf - Know Your Place
If you have a blog, or a personal website, there is a good chance that you’re intending to make a name for
yourself out there on the “internets”. With that as a given, you probably occasionally search for your
own name (ego surf) to see how well you are doing at getting your name linked with your site.
Ego Surf is a site that will do that search for you in a much deeper way than you would likely do yourself, then give you a score. It’s relatively fast, considering what it’s doing, and it’s fun – the results show a speedometer and where you sit on the dial, and the whole thing is done in fast AJAXy goodness. I did a search for “downloadsquad” to see how well we do for links to “www.downloadsquad.com”, and it looks like we’re doing quite well at making a name for ourselves. Obviously this tool is a great way to track any type of online brand-building.
The best part is that once you’ve created a search, you can subscribe to it via RSS to see how it changes over time, and what new links are pointing to you that affect your score.
