the GIMP is celebrating its 10th birthday and to commemorate it they held a contest to design a splash screen. The
winner, announced this week, is "Dialed In" by an artist called
ix. The winning splash screen accompanies the GIMP's birthday release, version 2.2.10, which can be downloaded from its many mirrors. You can check out all of the entries in the gallery.[Via Slashdot]

Hmmm, I worked with a designer a couple years back whose name was IX (as in 9). I wonder if it's the same guy. I'll have to see if I can track down his contact info...
