Another best Web 2.0 apps of '05 list
Remember yesterday's most innovative Web 2.0 apps of '05 link, and how I said we'd probably be seeing more along the same lines? Yep, about four hours later I found The Best Web 2.0 Software of 2005, a list by Dion Hinchcliffe. Dion separates his list into categories and his picks are a bit more mainstream (and not entirely '05), but he does offer comprehensive runners-up lists which is nice. In the social bookmarking category he crowns del.icio.us, but gives nary a mention to its new Yahoo! sibling My Web 2.0. Netvibes wins in the "Web 2.0 Start Pages" category; oddly Google's Personalized Home Page is skipped while Microsoft's Start.com is listed as a runner-up (but Dion, open APIs are so Web 2.0). Voo2do swipes the to-do-list win from 37signals' Ta-Da Lists. Venerable contender Flickr is still fresh enough to take the photo-sharing category—that's two for Yahoo!. Among the most '05 of his categories are "Peer Production News," where Digg wins easily (though this will be a much more interesting category to watch a year from now), and "Web-Based Word Processing," with Writely winning out over, among others, Writeboard, another 37signals offering.
Overall, a fairly comprehensive list. So, one star for the first person to find me another best-Web 2.0-apps-of-'05 list to post tomorrow.

Strange but I've not found any new search software like Quintura, Watson, etc in the list.

Netvibes.com is excellent, but doesn't support Safari. Surely something that is considered the "best of web 2.0" would have browser independant code, no?
