For the first time in 15 years, the Free Software Foundation is taking a stab at updating the GNU General Public License. According to
Computer Business Review, the GPL is the license attached to three-fourths of all open source software, and the its last (and first) update was in 1991, the same year as the creation of the Linux kernel. The first draft of the new GPL will be released mid-January 2006, and you can
put yourself on an e-mail list to get updates from Richard Stallman himself as well as the full text of the draft as soon as it's available.
