Firefox 1.5 hits the web
Yes, though it's been available on Mozilla's FTP servers for much of the day, the final version of Firefox 1.5 has finally hit the web. In fact, Firefox has a brand new home on the new Mozilla Corporation web site. the old Mozilla Update site has also gotten a face-lift in the form of the new Firefox Add-ons site. Hit the Firefox web site to download the new 1.5, or take a look at the release notes to see what's new.

technically, this has been availiable for a long time now. That is because the "final" firefox release is excatly the same as the firefox rc3 release which has been out for some time.

Do you know if it will eventually show up through the auto-update mechanism or will I have to download it from the website? I think I might hold oss for a week or so anyways to give my extensions time to catch up. I can't live without any of them.

many extensions either have caught up, or have new versions that work not yet on the mozilla site. Some also have new versions, like adblock becoming adblock plus and nukeanything changing to an enhanced version, which means the old versions wont show an update. So a visit to both the extension homepages and to themain extension page is worth it.
Also, again, for those already using RC3, teher wont be an auto update afaik, as there is nothing diff. For RC2 or below users, teher would be one. I dont know about 1.0.7 users though, but why wait, its not like 1.0.7 supports small binary updates like 1.5, so downloading and installing it right now makes no diff.
