There are some great RSS readers out there, but most of them are commercial. So, I was pleased to find
Awasu, which has most of the features I've come to expect from commercial readers like Feed Demon, but is available in a free, basic edition. Awasu's free Personal Edition only allows a maximum of 100 feeds (though, one could argue that if you need more than that, it's time to prune your OPML file), but still has an elegant interface and some powerful features, including the ability to search archived feeds and sync your feeds among multiple machines. A $29 Advanced Edition and $59 Professional Edition add more features, but chances are the Personal Edition will cover most of your feed-reading needs.

I've just tried it and it just seemed rather too complicated. I've gone back to using Feedreader which has it's quirks, but works pretty well.

I would like to add that I have been testing and looking at all these new rss feed viewers and websites- (Google reader, Bloglines, SearchFox, etc) and I have come across a fantastic reader that incorporates so much more than all these services and it is free. Check out great news http://www.curiostudio.com/ I have added this to my USB Key as a stand alone app. I can simply take my reader to any PC, plug in my key and I can pick up reading anything right where I left off. GreatNews also has a nice bloglines sync channels feature.

Nice, I will give Awasu a look. I've been using IntraVnews for a while but there is always room for improvement.

I tried Awasu and a number of other RSS readers, but have returned to Great News for (1) its stunning speed; (2) its clear, clean, and efficient interface; and (3) its overall usability and feature-set.

For the money, nothing holds a candle to FeedDemon. http://www.feeddemon.com It's easy to use and unbelieveably powerful. Worth every cent.
