UltraMon: Extend your Windows screen to many monitors
As the prices of monitors continue to plummet, many people I know are taking advantage of having a two monitor setup. UltraMon is a great utility that extends your Windows screen across as many as 10 monitors (just imagine that for a second...), thereby increasing the real estate that you can work on at any given time. UltraMon is different than Maxvista in that the later is best suited for those that have multiple PCs laying around. UltraMon doesn't require that the additional monitor be hooked up to its own PC.
I've been using UltraMon for some time with my convertible Tablet PC in a very effective desk configuration. I have UltraMon setup to extend my desktop to an external monitor, and I keep my convertible laptop in tablet mode. I connect an external keyboard and mouse, and instantly I have the beauty of operating in both tablet mode, and traditional mode from one laptop.
Features of UltraMon include a smart taskbar that recognizes which monitor an application is on, so you don't have duplicate task bar buttons at the bottom of your screen. UltraMon also lets you choose either a different graphic for each monitor, or the ability to stretch one wallpaper across attached monitors.

Nice Macs have been able to do this since the 80's.
I just had to flame sorry.
In 1995 I had 2 additional Nubus cards on my PM8100 which allowed me to have 4 monitors including a TV set as my desktops.
Now I use 3 monitors (2 on one Nvidious card and 1 on an older PCI ATI 7000.)

I've been doing a double monitor set up using my notebook and monitor. I've been using the built-in feature Microsoft has in Display Properties > Settings.
That set up tends to sap some of the power from my system, so I'll give this a try and see if performance maintains.

well, windows XP supports my two monitors just fine, without UltraMon. But, it's still a must have to anyone with more then one monitor. The smart taksbar is a cool feature. The other one i like, is that it adds two more buttons next to minimize, maximize and close. One of then sends the window to the other monitor, the other stretches the window accross both monitors.
There is a free trial, and it's well worth the money once the license expires

Your blog is a bit confusing. It appears UltraMon works with 'connected' monitors, iow monitors connected to the pc you're working on. Unless I'm mistaking, I can't find anywhere where it let's you hook up to a 'non-connected' monitor. And, if you already have a multiple monitor configuration, then UltraMon helps you manage your windows/apps across the multiple monitors.

UUUUmmmmmm.....I have had as many as 5 monitors at a time, all of them free. Some of you may sniker at this, but I found all but the one that came with my computer in the "dumpster". My apts. over the past few years have all had a place to throw away bulk funiture items, and every few weeks there is a new monitor, and about 75% of the time, there is nothing wrong with it. I guess it is people buying new LCDs or something, or just a whole new computer. You may think who wants a crappy old monitor, but I have a dell I am using right now that was still in the box and styrofoam. 17" and it looks like it was never used! I am going to try this program out so I can get more than my video card's 2 outputs can handle.
