One of the most annoying things that can happen when playing a full-screen game is accidentally hitting the Windows key on your keyboard, and having the Start menu pop up. Depending on the scenario, this can be merely annoying, or downright devastating. Although many games already disable system keys during game play, some don’t.
I Hate This Key is a utility that was developed to solve just this problem. The free version only allows you to completely disable the Windows key, meaning that you have to manually switch the configuration if you want to turn it off or on. The Deluxe edition allows many more options, like disabling the Windows key in full screen games only, or full screen applications (like Terminal Services Client or IE Theater Mode). There are several more things that I Hate This Key can do, like configuring lock keys and power control keys.

2 years ago when I first started using this program the free version had the option to only disable the key when in full screen games. That must have changed.
Most games have a function to diable this key or at least, they should. I originally got this program for Final Fantasy XI but after about 3 months of that they updated the game so it disabled the key internally and didn't need the program anymore.

Is there an app or Windows setting preventing the task from blinking when one of the apps throws up an event? I have my task bar on the left, and hidden, and it always pops open and starts blinking in the most inopportune times. Very annoying.
