BBC working on audio annotation system
The BBC is working on an audio annotation program that “users to collectively describe, segment and annotate audio in a Wikipedia-style fashion”. If you find the concept of that is a little mind-boggling yet really exciting, you’re not alone. Fortunately, Tom Coates has provided a couple of screencasts to show exactly how this would work. Unfortunately, this is a BBC R&D project, and therefore will likely not see the light of day in its current form. But, the good news is that this is something being done by the BBC, arguably the most forward-thinking public broadcast company in existence. At some point this technology will find its way into our hands. [via iloveradio.org]
