Speed up OpenOffice by killing JRE

OpenOffice logo I've never found OpenOffice to be particularly sluggish; it may take a few seconds to launch, but once running, it seems about as swift as any other major office suite. However, the Inq recently harshed on the suite, citing other users who've called it bloatware, and saying it was "slower than a Lada full of elephants going uphill." Now, the site is back with some reader suggestions on speeding up the program, which include increasing the size of your graphics cache and disabling Java. The latter suggestion does seem to speed up the application's launch dramatically. In fairness, though, the problem appears to be with Sun's Java Runtime Environment, not with OO. But don't count on OO doing anything about it, given that Sun is the project's main backer.
