Gaim to get voice and video

Sean Egan, the lead developer of Gaim who was recently scooped up by Google, has written a blog post about his hiring and the future of the popular open-source IM client. "The goal of Google Talk," he says, "is to make real-time communication as open as possible," and that he's been working toward making Google Talk's voice features available in other clients "in the near future." He also talks about Gaim-vv, a new framework for voice and video in Gaim which will make it possible to use the voice fatures of Google Talk and MSN and Yahoo! IM's webcam features.
