Brin: No Google office. Really. Well, maybe, but not quite.

You can forget about the long-rumored Google Office showing up on a PC anywhere near you anytime soon. Sort of. While Google co-founder Sergey Brin insists "we don't have any plans" to develop or release an office suite, he hasn't ruled out the idea of web-based apps that can do "new and better things than the Office package and more." So, forget about that Google-branded version of Star Office you were looking for. But wait around a little while, and you may just see the Google version of Writely, NumSum, Planzo, Backpack and the rest, all mixed together on your Google personalized home page as the ultimate web office suite.
