NewsGator buys NetNewsWire

netnewswireSo yeah, NewsGator has gobbled up the last piece in their RSS puzzle by acquiring NetNewsWire. Well, I guess they could do something for Linux. Scott McNulty over at TUAW has the official word tonight, as NewsGator continues the march toward the Official RSS Juggernaut. NetNewsWire is a long-time favorite RSS reader for Macheads. I used it exclusively until I found Vienna, though I still love it. Just Monday Om Malik was pretty much spilling the beans, so for "insiders" it's old news I guess.

Scott's also scored an interview with Brent Simmons, NNW's developer. As Om suggested, looks like cross-platform subscription sync is going to be on the menu... Which is very cool. First FeedDemon, now NetNewsWire. This seems like a net positive to me, since NewsGator has had the decency to bring both developers on board with each acquisition. Guess that's why Brad Feld invested in them. Onward and upward.
