Free PC to Phone Calls with AdCalls
There are a number of different PC to PC voice-calling options available these days, including
Skype and the upstart Google Talk. While Google Talk does not at this time support calling to a regular telephone, Skype allows you to do so, for a small fee. But if you're looking for a way to make completely free PC to telephone calls anywhere in the US, including long-distance calls, check out AdCalls. AdCalls is a small application that you download to your local computer. When you use it to make a call, an ad is displayed, and it is this ad that pays for your call.
Similar business models have been tried in the past, without much success. Let's hope this one lasts - it's great to have a free calling alternative.

I made a successful call to my home easily, and the quality was OK.

I've been told to check the terms and conditions. Apparently you give permission for every number you dial to be used by advertisers.

yah, this was on digg.com a few days ago and the terms say that any number you dial is basically put on a call list. speculatively, a telemarketer approach to getting around the do not call list.

This software sucks. I should of read the comments before I tried it out. I haven't made a successful call yet and I just got my friends cell phone numbers on a marketing. I hope they don't find out it was because of me. =)

This is not a real AdCalls. You need to do a activation email, and tons of other stuff. Got to the offcial website, and get the official version

I've been using this service for a year and it's fine. All one has to do is download and provide your demographics. For most people it's painless, but i guess if you're looking for something negative to say about a product, I guess you'll make up things. By the way, none of my friends have been called for any advertising or solicitations. Maybe in the future AdCalls might decide to contact those persons to see if they'd like to join the service, if not AdCalls will not hassle them like other solicitors, since it's not their job to do so.

Tried it, trashed it......
When it actually worked, the sound was awful, the call lasted 5 seconds.
Piece of s***t if I may say so, buzzword and marketing put together without a glass of Scotch, and there you have it.
Sorry, it ain't good enough, hum, specially when their site appears to be ofline lots of time.

With or without spyware, if my info is being sold to someone to be used in ways I'm not aware of, or to get calls and junk emails, I sure don't want to have any part of it. I hope this company goes out of business SOON!!! We have enough crap going around the internet deceiving people. Now we'll this junk that capture people's phone number and email so we can get more stuff we don't want. Except this time, they use some scheme to make you want to give your info-free damn calls!!

I've been using this AdCall service since last 2 months and there was no problems...every call last for 10 minutes and in a day you can call upto 6 calls..so 60 minutes of long distance calling in total....or 6 calls per day at maximum of 10 minutes...sometimes you may have some problems but that may be because of the speed of Internet or how many persons are using the service at the same time...but over all it is good and none of my contacts has recieved any call from any telemarketers...
