Use Backpack to take notes for school
I honestly forget where I stumbled on this, but I found a sweet blog entry at pagini that details a handy method for using Backpack to take notes for school. The setup process takes a little while, but in the end it's worth it: you'll have a thorough online note-taking system organized by class with daily class pages for notes, ready for tagging - which is a pretty cool idea for notes when you think about it. Of course, there's one subtle requirement for the system to remain reliable: an internet connection during class so you can actually get to Backpack. As a bonus for OSX Tiger users, the Backpack widget for Dashboard offers another handy way to interact with all your Backpack stuff.

Or you could quickly set up your own local server using XAMPP (http://www.apachefriends.org/en/, php and mysql included) and then install the free/OSS DotProject or phpProjekt softwares which help to manage entire projects, notes, calendars, etc. Free, fast, easy, configurable, extensable, modifiable....
