It
looks like everyone and their dog wants to be in the online music
download business... finally. Remember that moment back when you first
learned what Napster was about? No, not the "wow, I'll never have to
pay for music again!" moment, the "when are they going to start selling
music this way primarily?" one. Well, it's finally starting to look
like we're headed in that direction. Following the herd,
HMV is releasing their own music download service,
positioned to compete with Apple's iTunes. HMV Digital will be launched
on September 5th, 3 days after Virgin releases their digital download
service.
