If you're a Google Earth user, you'll be happy to discover that Google has made a
huge update to their satellite image library, adding coverage or improving the resolution on over 100 cities worldwide. You don't need to do anything to take advantage of the updates; they're just there, and will be available if you view any of the affected locales. If you've never tried
Google Earth, get on the bandwagon, but be warned: it can steal many hours of your time as you explore with it. Two highlights of the recent update are Mount Everest in 0.7m/pixel resolution, and Google's Mountain View campus in 1inch/pixel resolution!

One inch per pixel?! That's insane. That's close enough to tell if the Google engineer crossing the parking lot has a receding hair line.

You can upload the longitude/latitude of your position on the earth and the next time google trawls the site, you'll get your own little personal 'pin' on the GoogleEarth program.
Had mine a few weeks now (Swansea, Wales, UK).

I showed this off at school and productivity in my class has dropped to nothing, every screen has signseeing people playing the google earth game. But our hometown has the worst imagery you could think of (search for west wallsend, australia) but when the entire earth has image quality equal to that of over las veagas airport.
