Easily Resize iTunes Columns to Fit
I found a handy little tip to quickly and automatically resize a column in iTunes to fit the longest line in it; kind of like what Excel can do. Simply double-click the divider to the right of the column you want to resize and it'll adjust itself to fit the longest piece of information it contains, including the column's title itself. I believe this works in just about any version of iTunes on OSX and Windows. Anyone experience otherwise?[via macosxhints]

This is a pretty standard windows feature, and has been for years.

I figured this out ten minutes into using iTunes. A useful feature, but I think most would stumble upon it.

I think I have to add to the surprise of others that you didn't know this up front. This is a standard feature of columnar tables, on Windows at least. It can be disabled, but most the time it's enabled. I would have been surprised if Apple had decided not to support column width adjustment.
I don't know too much about Mac's and OS X when it comes to columnar tables. I would assume that they do support adjustable column widths, but one never knows. They may have felt it was too complicated a feature for Apple users and decided not to implement it.

OSX supports it Dave M. I just don't work in Excel all day (or at all) and figured there's plenty of others out there who don't either and might not know about a feature like this.

I didn't know about this feature either, David. Thanks for posting it.

I agree this is a bog-standard feature of any ListView in Windows and has been for years - not such a big deal IMO.
And at the risk of adding another 'well duh' feature to the list, have you tried right-clicking on the Column headers and selecting 'Auto Size All Columns'? Quite useful and nicely done in iTunes IMO.

any way to group all the tracks that aren't able to be found without having to select & delete them individually?

I like your tips that you post on the blog but you have to remember your audince, I'd be supprised if you got any 'soccer moms' as you call them in the states reading your blog, most people reading this blog have had a fair bit of experince with computers. I'd like to see the tips continue but be a bit more 'hidden'. Also you can right click a collumn heading and select auto size all coloums, give you a guess what that does :-P
