.Mac widgets, new Backup app around the corner?

Could those disappearing .Mac widgets be on their way after all? ThinkSecret and our own TUAW certainly seem to think so, and I for one curse them for getting my gears going. Apple's .Mac service can certainly ignite debates about its usefulness, but being the satisfied customer that I am, I'm excited about the potential Apple has to build great widgets that tie into Mail, the iDisk and Backup.

Speaking of Backup, its 3rd iteration is supposed to get an interface revamp, as well as a wide variety of new backup features and customization such as Home folder backup, weekly/daily/monthly options.

I must say though, I'm with Dave over at TUAW: it's about darn time!
