PiquantMenu gives full control of your Mac from the menu bar

piquantmenuLooks like I'm going to become a Parrothead after all. Michaël Parrot's PiquantMenu received a major update this week, although it's entirely new to me. And while the TUAW crew seems to love QuickSilver, on my pathetic little iFrankenBook it just slows everything down. So PiquantMenu is my new best friend. It's not QuickSilver per se (lacking the coolio search functionality and some other power toys), but it is a great little launcher and file browser. See, not everyone uses Spotlight to ignore their folder hierarchy (which also brings my machine to it's knees).

PiquantMenu allows you to put any app, folder, favorites, AppleScripts, etc. into iconized menus next to your clock on the menu bar. The drop-down menus are also detachable for added fun. It's always nice to see these GUI tweaks for the Mac, and even better when they are simple and elegant and useful. Check out the demo movie to fully understand how fun this app can be. All this for only $18.
