Goodbye Cyberduck FTP
I've been using Cyberduck for several years now on OSX. And for those many years OSX has had built-in support for Java apps. Remember that post about Apple dropping support for some Java-based apps? Well, I see Cyberduck has fallen prey to the God of Deprecated API's and is not compatible in Tiger... So there was a reason not to upgrade after all.The sad thing is that Cyberduck worked quite well, and was just starting to become a really rock-solid app. There are about 20 localizations for crying out loud! It also supports Growl notifications. Clearly it is popular. But since many of the API's it relied upon have been dissed and dismissed by Apple, it can no longer find a home on the Mac platform. Another victim of "progress."
UPDATE: Several of you have mentioned Cyberduck is still working in Tiger! I finally got home (where ftp isn't blocked) and tried the latest build to find—it works. In fact, it seems faster. I even like the new disconnect button. D'oh! Thanks for everyone who mentioned this. Now someone should tell developer David Kocher...
