Browser Tip of the Day: BetterSearch

I couldn't come up with a better title for this one because it describes itself pretty well. BetterSearch is an extension for Firefox that adds features to search engines (Google, Yahoo!, MSN, etc.) and others (del.icio.us, Simpy) alongside each link. For each result it can show a thumbnail screenshot, a Page Info (Alexa) link, a link to the page on the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine, and, for links to Amazon product pages, a snapshot of the product, current price, and customer rating. Not all of the features are for everybody -- the thumbnails, for example, are sometimes just in the way -- but overall BetterSearch is an impressive little hack that will make your co-workers ask, "Why doesn't my Google look like that?"

Sweet plug-in! What the author fails to mention on his site (maybe he assumes it's obvious) is that you have to shut down and restart Firefox after installing the plug-in.

You have to do that with all firefox extensions. So yes, it is a little obvious. =]
