Adam Curry's CastBlaster podcasting app in beta
CastBlaster, the much-hyped podcasting app from Adam "The Podfather" Curry, is now available in beta form. CastBlaster looks to eliminate the post-production from creating a quality podcast by allowing you to queue up music and sound effects and manage audio levels easily. David Jackson did a screencast review of CastBlaster that's worth watching, or you can head straight to the beta download. Unfortunately, it's not freeware: you're limited to 10 minutes of recording unless you buy a license key.

Am I understanding this right? You have to pay $50 to run this beta software for more than ten minutes? $50. There are more than 6000 podcasts out there not using this software. How can this bit of beta be worth $50. Couldn't they have waited to their first final version to start gouging holes in podcaster wallets? This seems too much like a rush to make money off of podcasting. Not a thoughtful group of developers trying to support an new artform! Save your money and wait for the open source version that will appear soon. In the meantime use Audacity.

I am trying to remember where I saw another program that lets you do something similar (recently reviewed) including adding your own intros and present effects...any ideas?

Probably WebPod Studio, the next version will allow you to mix in sound bites.. Though WebPod Studio was release well before CastBlaster
