Microsoft's "Monad" command shell now in beta
Microsoft has been touting its new command shell, codenamed "Monad," for awhile now, and though whether it will make its debut in Longhorn is disputed, you can now download it in beta form. Microsoft's goal is to exceed what the many *nix shells have to offer and make a shell that's actually useful to administrators, and with Monad's complex .NET-enabled scripting facilities they seem to be making at least a little headway in this regard. If you want to try out Monad, head over to MSDN's Channel9 Wiki, which will guide you through the many hoops necessary to download the beta and tell you how to use it.
